Mr GTR - why do you say you bumped the camera during the rootop shot ?

On your last one I would have let the exposure run a bit longer so the lights run right across the image, or crop it I guess, much like you have with taxi.

the first one has good DOF, and nice focus on Kims eyes, the third one is too busy, the background just gets in the way. Seeing what is in the background (and foreground) of your shot is just another one of those things you have to learn to think about as well as the actual subject and all the technical stuff.

Ha, and with the truck, it was a 30 second shutter speed, so we were yelling at the truck to drive quicker, but yelling and screaming didnt help So the shot ran out, and it was where it was. And I didnt crop the taxi shot at all.

I agree with the backround being distracting in the third one. Pity though, because it's a nice 'pose'.

And waiting, wishing for some decent weather for some photo taking. Pity they aren't waterproof. But yeah, my camera doesnt take good photos sitting in a box in my room. Fingers crossed ...

Or ... Is there anything worthwhile practising on INdoors where it doesn't rain?

I sifted through the DSLR section on trademe, ordering them by price. I then looked around the $500 mark, and asked a photographer uncle about what one to get. He advised me on a few, and then I showed VERT, and he said to get the one that Ive now got, a Canon EOS 10D. And it's swell!

The best thing to do is ask someone who knows.

I've got a 10D too and I really really like it, seems to take pretty good photos (most of mine have bikes in them though) and I find it nice to use too
Just need a fisheye lens for it soon though

I actually quite like the way the truck shot stops. Looks like he was parked up and then hyperspaced outa there!

Oh TGM - turn off the date stamp in your camera settings - it's nothing you can't tell from the file anyway - and it just detracts from your shot(IMO). Very cool pics otherwise though.
