Thanks Rob, In some ways I'm hoping it gear but in others I wish it was technique cos that is cheaper to fix :paranoid:
There is some things in that picture that could be fix with editing,
My lappy which I have all my photo editing stuff on only has a 15" screen which doesn't help, I need to sort a place for and get a large external screen

Small screens are great. My photos look way better on the viewing screen than the 27inch monitor :p

Yeah only because I can.. the 6d handles high ISO so well. Its better to 'over expose' (or rather expose to the right) and mess with it less later than push an under exposed shot in post. A crop body I wouldnt push over 1600/3200

We hiked Hooker valley's 10kms return track for sunset loaded down with camera gear, the sky looking good, all hopes were high.

Hopes way too high, stunning spot, but not so stunning light

Hours later we're back at the tents camping in -8 conditions ( after a little star shooting). All excited for another attempt the next morning.

Dragging ourselves out of frost laden tents at 4:30am , glancing at the totally clear skies, we start the walk in again. A few test shots half way into the valley and theres just a touch of cloud forming, we race in further , setup on the small patch of Hooker Lake that was still clear liquid water ( the rest very frozen).

Not a breath of wind
Only the sound of ice and snow falling from the peaks
The sky fills with wispy cloud
and the sun strikes the atmosphere
What a light show
What a place

That's rather nice. I get where you;re coming from. Something about that silence broken by the creaking of a big ass pile of ice.

Wow.

I remember hearing the ice and glaciers - but it was mostly punctuated by massive wind that bent my tent poles... good times.

now that summer is coming (sunset later and all) I can get to better locations for sunset pic after work,
I have been trying to some time lapse also, but it would seem I can mess that up also :paranoid:

I should have been 50m further north, I set my camera and got it running then walked up the beach a bit and took this with my phone
