Just got an 1100d that i'm trying to learn my way around.

It seems though that if I charge the battery then leave it in the camera it will be flat (or just wont turn on) after a week or so... I wouldnt think it would be normal for it to do this...?

Not normal. I have the older version (1000d) and the battery is awesome. Lasts forever

Switching off normally, but regardless I have the power-off set to a minute or so... Will see how it is over xmas but I might need to have a word to the shop...

Been playing with my new 550D after hours

Caught the milk train coming out of the gorge the other night



This morning I got up quite early(though 30min earlier would have been better) to see comet Lovejoy over Pahiatua.

Nice comet shot znomit... what time was that?

I got up early too but it's near impossible to get a decent view of the eastern horizon in Welly. I went out to the Rimutaka summit but no joy from there.

Had to content myself with some early morning stuff in town...

That was 4:20, was all over 15min later, I overslept by 30min and only got shooting at 4:10 so was lucky to get anything!

Hmmm... I was set up about the same time (just got a tiny bit of tail poking above the hill). I might have another crack tonight.

Another early rise for a crack at Comet Lovejoy this morning. Had a perfect view of it from Te Raekaihau Pt, Lyall Bay. This was about 3:40am, ISO 3200, f/4.0, 25sec @17mm.

It is a stupid idea... Up at 3am. Drive to Lyall Bay. Set up. Pack up. Drive home. take tripod clamp out of other camera bag. Drive back to Lyall Bay. Set up again. Take a few photos. Pack up again. Drive home again. Back in bed by 4:10am.
