How does one take photo's of shiny objects?
Just with a point and shoot, golf clubs are way too polished, I've read briefly about making a tent, but any other tips? Just to sell, but I can't get the close detail ie the little nicks and marks in the steel.

Its difficult if the AF cant focus properly, does your camera have a manual focus?, some do.

With a point and shoot, turn the flash off and head for macro mode.

That's without the flash, and in macros mode! Think I need a more dull back ground, darker reflective surfaces.

I would have thought that the logo on the clubs would be enough to focus on, but maybe not. You could always try putting something in the frame level with the back of the clubs, to give the camera something to focus on. Ideally something neutral/gray, but with some contrast, maybe a bit of card or paper. You can then half-press the shutter to focus, remove the paper, and take the shot.

If you can, experiment with the background. drape that black material over a box or something behind the club heads, and have white paper/material just out of shot on either side. This might help create some contrasty reflections. Or try the reverse, sitting the clubs on a white background with black material just out of shot.
