This is a spot called Little Sahara. A friend and I wandered there for some photography and got 30 seconds of great light, and it was pants after that with low cloud spoiling what could have been an awesome place.

WIth photographing the Tour of Welly this week there's lots of sitting around waiting so it's just as well I threw a bunch of filters and what not in my bags to keep myself occupied and that the Wairarapa is a pretty photogenic area.

First two images with new camera, constructive criticism would be great.

Flower:
Exposure seems good, you've croped the flower a touch and for me its too central. The mehanics all look good just think a little moreon the framing?

Apples: looks OK to me prehaps a touch more contrast (tho theres a lot of dr there), again the mechanics all look fine prehaos a tighter crop would work better, dunno.

Pretty good pics tho IMO - new cameras certainly working ok whatver it is.

Thanks,
It's a 500D, both photo's were taken with a 18-55mm, I'm planning on buying a 50mm 1.8f soon though. Might buy an external flash as well while I'm at it.

They're rather expensive. A good one will cost 500+

I meant the flashes :paranoid:

Those are all <200 so sweet as. If you can, get the Mk1, they have a far better focusing ring.

I bought a nissin Di866 of ebay.com.au for $300, almost as good as a 580exII

Looking to upgrade from a 1000D... I know the 550 and the 60D do 1080p video now too. What would you recommend? Looking for potential built in audio.

I know wuffy is using one that has 60fps video, what camera do you have dude?

Cheers!

550D, 60D and 7D all do 60p/50p. Exactly the same video. 720p/50p or 1080p/24p
