Depends on the condition of the camera and the shutter count. I'd get the brand new one if I had another lens to go with it, because those 18-55s are rather poor but OK for messing around. But you can pick up a 50mm 1.8f which is very handy for no more than 200, its a must have lens basically, it can produce awesome shots. I'd get the brand new one, A. It's brand new so has warranty. B. You won't have to worry about it crapping out and having to fork out a G for a new one. C. If I remember rightly Those 18-200mm Lenses suffer heavy lense distortion at the longer end of the range which is a tad annoying in shots with straight lines, had one for a while over seas and it was very frustrating shooting architecture and getting curves in the buildings where they have straight edged lines.

On another note, got my 24-70mm F2.8 Sigma today....

Awesome pics! Just got the missus a 55-250 canon lens. Has a nice range zoon, and depth of field is really good too.

So it would be better to get this and buy a 50mm 1.8f lens?

Yes, but I was afraid, I wouldn't be able to contain the awesomeness of Rick Astley, and I would just spontaneously combust.

I'd get the one with the 18-55 because you can use that as a muck about lens. I used my old one for shots where I knew the lens would be in danger of scratching, because they're 150 brand new max and they aren't super sharp to start out with.

So 500D 18-55 IS kit and a 50mm f1.8 would be sweet as

The big cameras have all been put away over the holidays but I took my little P&S out whilst I walked the dog this morning. She was in absolute doggie heaven along Ngaio Gorge!!

That's aboslutely awesome, takes me back 35-40 years to when I used to crew on my dad's Javelin.

This is my youngest getting up her brother's nose with her new Samsung ES30 . . .
