I love the top two. I have been considering doing a similar one to the top one in Wellington. I have often wondered if I could get one to come out really well. Maybe I should give it a go.

Nothing too flash, I've been playing with Photoshop....I think this came out really cool. I didn't actually take the photo --- given it is me that's in it.....and now it's my avatar too.

Went to McLaren Falls today as I randomly spotted on the web that the flood gates would be open, not seen it full before. Couldn't be arsed to wait for the light to fade, so stuck both the ND4 and ND8 on... got a very blue tint to all the pics, but a play with the white balance in PS sorted that out (mostly).

WH, great photo's. How long do you keep the shutter open to get this type of water effect. I am assuming a fully closed aperture?

Thanks :) 10s at f/25, 3s at f/30 and 5s at f/22 so yeah, pretty much closed down as far as it would go. It's usually a bit trial and error, trying not to blow out the highlights of the whitewater. It was a bright afternoon, so I had to stop it right down even with two NDs on.

Exposure time can vary, I've used 30s before now when there's not much white water, just few bubbles and ripples, the whiter the water the less time you need to get the effect.

Oh yes, budget end of Canon's DSLR going 1080p for video too!
I've been wanting an SLR, and an HD video camera for a while now...

Can anyone get the 40d to record video, or is that a youtube urban myth?
