No, I am well behaved, and a genuine bike free walk down with the kids a couple of weeks ago showed that transient is pretty fucken overgrown. I was using the acronym 'DH' as an adjective, to differentiate between riding up transition and riding down transition, rather than as a noun (proper or otherwise).

Your mention of transient here sounds more like planet ride (ridgeline non-mtb track) which is probably a jungle now that all tyres are going up and down Highbury fling - transient - serendipty

This was my thinking, Transient is not overgrown.
The signage in the area could do with some improvement - top of Carparts is a classic confuser, I almost ran down some tourists standing in the track taking photos - they'd followed the "walker" arrows down the wrong path - it's easy to see what whoever put the signs in meant, but only if you already know where to go.

Yep, that sign is on the wrong side of the trail! Met a family walking down CPTS a while back, same issue.

Went for a wicked ride after work today. In the pissing rain.

Transient-Sawmill-Windmill-Emu-uturn-Emu-Rollercoaster-Highbury-Transient.

Flagged Serendipity owing to the bike I was on, and the weather. Yup, I pussied a little! :-)

I got a tad muddy!

I don't know any tracks in the area called Transition, up or down, and have lived there a long time...

It looks like you mean riding down Transient - Serendipity, I'm just curious.
You're right :ib: I've been calling transient transition for 2 years now, no one, (including me) has picked up on that before!?!

Yeah, the other is the old Backdoor (I think) that you are referring to. More or less Transient was built so that walked could use the other trail free from being assaulted by flying bikes, and to keep land owners at the bottom of Backdoor happy.

It was dopers we walked down. We used to call it Holloway in my youth. Still illegal. Although tracks.org isn't clear on that.

Dopers joins Squatters very quickly, Squatters is the illegal one... Not clear, and much easier to declare Dopers illegal too.

Nice long ride on the hardtail today, Went out towards lake Ohakuri, round to Golden springs for a flat white (on the main road between Rotorua and Taupo) then back roads to Reporoa, more back roads, up the main road for a little bit, then onto the local cycle trail - Te Ara Ahi. 120km's all up about 7 1/2 hours moving time.

This would be first ride over 100kms since february, legs are felling okay right now

A few laps around and about on Makara today. 2.5 hours of training ride.

Got a bit windy up the top, towards the 4pm mark or so. Like the new bits on North Face. Vertigo is riding well, if a little .... groomed in places, and the new berms on Lazy Fern are a HooT!

Up to the Akatawara's. Shifty run down co-op and back up BRB then back out through the farm.

I'm sure that the trail builders up there would love to have you come up and give them a hand next time they are working on it, so that it doesn't feel too groomed :sly:

Been there, done that :-) And my little miss, by the age of 4, had done more digs that a lot of people who ride at Makara, that's for sure.

Just a few rocks that were there that aren't there now. Some changes make sense, some less so.

As far as I'm aware there hasn't been any work done on that track, except Jonathan K and co down by the spiral bridge, since the beginning of the year. I think the sections you are referring to are due to heavy traffic naturally smoothing things out. You should keep in check your continuous complaining of dumbing down, you're sounding like a massive twat.
