Kate and I did Rimutaka Incline. A gentle Wellington zephyr threatened to blow us off the track occasionally. The headwind coming back up from Cross Creek had me using granny a few times.

Nice easy pace for most of it.

We found a goat on possum track. It was lying on it's side flapping it's legs around and making cat noises. We tried to get it on it's feet and walking, but it fell over again. I suggested bludgeoning it with a large rock, but Davo wouldn't let me do that to one of his in-laws, so we carried on.

Some of the group had issues staying on their bikes up Possum when riding behind me. Not sure why.

That was actually Don. I hope he feels better by the shuttles day on Dec 18th !!

home-out of garage- up to the dairy to buy a pie & L&P- checked to see if swelling in knee has gone down- ate pie and coasted home back to the couch-

conclusion- knee still needs at least another week :-(

Rode up Dun Mountain to Third House yesterday. Not enough time for Coppermine or Peaking Ridge :(

Mt Vic

The main trails have been substantially' dumbed down' apparently for the 24 hour race.

Very disappointing, hope this is not the general state of XC racing...

You just need to stay off the main trails :D

I was pleased they haven't touched my favourite bits of track up there and that they're more cut up than ever

Yeah the good stuff is still there, more a comment on the pre race grooming than pronouncing the death of the whole hill

But yeah it is pretty stupid, they've just made 3 foot wide smooth footpaths in some bits :hmmm:

They totally groomed one bit that apparently wasn't even in the race for some reason

Up the Rollercoaster to the Wind Turbine, then down a freshly groomed Carparts, down the last section of the Rollercoaster, then Denton Park - awesome! - and a great urban sift, with a nasty climb up through Central Park to finish off with...
