A brap around McLean's Island.
First time on a bike after my epic spill(tm) nearly 12 weeks ago.
Still can't stand to pedal and pumping was a little difficult having next to no quad.
But good to see I still have most of my mojo

I went for a long ride on my XAM-1 today

Started in J-ville and roaded it to makara,
meet up with a mate and rode the grand loop with upper leaping lizard thrown in for good measure,
then head up salvation, over right hill, round the fence line, up the grovel to the windmill

Image

then down carparts & roller coaster, roaded it down through town to the water front

Up Mt Vic from oriental bay, rode half down the the ridge line then droped down to courtney place road back to and along the water front and around to Thordon Quay were I meet up with SC in the truck

a cruisie 4hr ride :D on another great wellington day

This past week I was away in Marlborough and The Sounds and hooked up with locals Mitch7 and Simbow to ride Onamalutu. Then a few days later I rode the Whites Bay trails. Very nice. Pretty cruisy as far as Singletrack go but really nice forest and scenery on both tracks. It was even snowing lightly at Foster Clearing. Quite different to the summery weather we had just recently at Craigieburn!

Ask around. The twat in a shop in town said i'd have to but a whole new headset because they didnt make replacement bearings. Went to another shop and they had them right there in the drawer.

and for really hard to source stuff try www.derailleurhanger.com

also it helps if you know who actually made your frame (as opposed to the name on the stickers) - if it's a kinesis you may find other brands built in the same factory using the same hanger (again derailleurhanger.com is great cos you can get it to show you pics
of all the 2-bolt hangers to perruse for likely matches - e.g. you can easily see an 04 jamis dakar hanger is identical to a 06 mongoose rockadile hanger)

Beautiful ride in Vic Park today tracks running mint.

Not too impressed with the muppet who has carved a berm into the middle of dazzas and made a blown out XC track off it. The berm is going to be chaos for anyone wanting to go straight when its a bit slick.

Did they make it in the semi clearing place where you go left for old dazzas or straight for the new one?
