you weren't sifting around up there yesterday as well - we saw someone with an uncanny resemblance to you in the back of the rangers ute

Yeah I was in the front seat, Sammy in the back, Daves already given me a hard time for apparently snobbing you guys and then again today when I was up there, didn't recognise him in the daylight! :D

ya bugger - dave was going "wasn't that JB?" - I wasn't sure since if it was you I'd have expected you to stop and harrang us for :

1) riding UP vic park
2) wearing really bad lycra (Dave outdid me yesterday - full cofidis strip beats an ancient bike biz team top)
3) being silly enough to then want to keep on climbing (beat me, beat me more!) rather than heading down and enjoying the tracks while they're in such nice nick

Did the SWIGG/Starfish thing at Makara, and played about a little in the Skills area.

The tracks are looking really good.

And really fast!

going up and sessioning singletrack is good - you can feel a bit of a pratt, but it's the quickest way to learn stuff (since you can try it repeatedly and learn what works and what doesn't)

an afternoon sessioning brents with cavie advising achieved heaps for me (though pushing back up from the bottom umpteen times nearly killed us)

try those tricky cleats first - they might be enough (release very easy)

and be warned that if you DO go for the dx 647s (which are very cool pedals) those 'M' cleats won't work (as in they'll release if you fart loudly) - those are silver sh55 cleats, and you have to run either black sh51 (standard single release) of gold sh56 cleats (multirelease for the 647/520/540/959)

shit - actually before you shove those cleats on better check what model pedals she's got - being new they're probably 520/540s (the old 501s only come oem on bikes nowdays)! In which case don't use those cleats (most shops should have the 56 cleats in stock now - know Hub had a few sets in stock when I was in there last week)
