Postby RHR_Rob on Wed 10/Mar/10 8:33pm

Need something like a 40/50L drinking water container for the caravan (just the plastic type with screw cap) horrendous prices at camping/caravan stockists TM threw up a few but dubious as not sure if can be succesfully cleaned.

homebrew shops were pretty cheap - and payless plastics had them on special a while ago

camping shops take the piss on stuff like that, crack up.

I have some antifreeze ones at work if you get desperate (they come up ok with a clean using sterilizing stuff)
:D
Bonus is your tummy wont freeze and your bladder wont rust

The bottle stores with fill your own spirits sell their empty 20L containers cheap. I think I paid $2 & $3 each for the last ones I got for camping. They stack nicely too. From Wairakei Rd. Get the taps from payless plastics or similar.

Hint = wait unitl they have empty vodka or other low smell spirits containers as some of the others can retain the smell and taint your drinking water..........but if you like everythign to smell like rum :satan:

40l-50l is a heavy lift. 40l rollable tanks work OK if you are in rolling distance of a tap. For general use, IMHO, better to use 20 or 25 litre containers that are easier to handle. These are cheap (as already said, can get used ones that are food grade) and store nicely. Of course there are people out there can throw 50kg around as easily as I can handle 20kg, if you are one of those guys, go for it. For me, no point getting hernia or stuffed back and ruining my holiday over a bit of water.
