If a geared bike can cost $10k+, why shouldn't a singlespeed cost $5k?

Got bored of KB did ya III? :D

I thought SS was about the anti-bling AKA Old Skool Cool, well it is for me.

No, I'll turn up regularly to wind up the tossers at KB.

SS is SS; anything else goes and prejudice within is just bloody silly.

If I'm not on my KTM, I'll be on my unobtanium singlespeed in woodhill, vegas, riverhead, hunua or wherever i might have a chance to ride

nah, it just means an old bugger who broke his back has to ride with a thudbuster

my favourite combination of frames and bits is my Bad News frame with Ti 'softride' rigid forks, Thudbuster and 29" wheels

I'm old and fat and will never win a race but I'll always be different and every time i go for a ride someone stops me to talk about the bike

Oi! I resemble that remark!

I'd like to say I hope to see you at the SS Nationals, but it's the Missus' birthday....

It is sweet. It kicks ass round the bmx track and that. So nice and easy to throw round. Unlike the old DH Comp that I had. Cant wait for my new forks though.

A few years ago I decided to design my own and tracked down a factory that made/makes titanium frames etc for Merlin, Lightspeed and other well known names.

If you don't mind me asking who built them? I was under the impression all merlins (and possibly lightspeeds) production was done in house?

Anyway nice biikes esp the 29er :)

Some of their bikes are built in house and some are/were not, ditto for the other Ti manufacturers. Nowdays "built in house" often merely means assembled in house: they don't manufacture their own shimano gear, their own forks, their own grips etc; why should they manufacture their own frames if they find a company that will make them to their spec for the right money? You'd be surprised at the brand names this company has made frames for.
But sorry, I'm not about to tell you what company made my design, it took me 2 years to track them down by myself and I may just make another batch soon. I will say it is an ultra modern factory in Asia though. Robots do the welding.

So many really low seats!

Do you guys ever pedal, are you incredibly short or do you just roll down hills for the jumps on the other side?

Why are so many of you running your singulators pushing down on the chain? I think you get more security pushing up (better wrap around the sprocket) and IMO it looks neater too...

I agree, but sometimes the shape of the chainstay means that the singulator/tensioner will actually touch the chainstay and not tension the chain correctly... so the "pull down" position is the only option.
