Crank bros new single speed crank...its four bolt does that mean chainrings will still warp?
The Cobalt S an integrated singlespeed setup, again in stainless steel, like the SLI the spindle is on the non-drive side it features an aluminium chain guard and comes built up with a 34 tooth ring, but you also get a 32 tooth version in the box. Claimed weight is 819g.)

I have never warped a chainring, on any of my SS bikes, they have all been 4-bolt.

Well you have a surly one you would expect it to hold its shape.
Or you just don't go fast enough up hills :D

I have got a fuxxored surly 32T 4 bolt sitting at home, which caused me a 3 hour walk on my SS a while back (caused by a lost c-ring bolt though  )

Quite possably the coolest idea ever if it works. An external BB eccentric BB so any bike can become a singlespeed.

Awesome idea!

The guys from Trickstuff has some mad inventor stuff on show including this clever BB eccentric that works with regular two-piece external cranks and a half-link to give enough movement to turn any normal BB bike into a singlespeed without a Singulator. It even has Phil Wood BB bearings Clever stuff.

My brain doesnt understand it. Its trying, but it cant figure how the hole in the centre does not line up with the hole in the frame, if the whole thing sits external of the frame.

My brain also hurts tring to work out how it works. I just assumed because its german it would work. :paranoid:

As the bb shell is a lot bigger than the axle diameter of the cranks you can provide tensioning by moving where the axle sits in the bb shell. How exacatly it does this is hard to conceptulise. It will have less tensioning than a normal eccentric BB but enough if you are willing to use a half link as required.

I think its a very cool idea. I had to put a rennen tensioner on my bike last night as the magic ratio was getting a bit slack. I'm sure the rennen will work fine but isn't very elegant (and it's bloody loud)

Heres the link for trickstuffs website. There is nothing on it about the ecc bb but they make some other interesting products.

Looks as though it swings forward. There appears to be an adjustment screw hole to the right hand side. So it would pivot at the top and swing forwards in an arch. So the adjustment wouldn't be huge.

They make some interesting stuff, alot of braking related
