Congrats beater, they close in age? We've got two 20 months apart and they're best mates.

Congratulations Beater, that's awesome!

So our wee girl is 5 weeks old now. Wait, what? Where the hell did that month go?!
It's a weird thing, cos it really doesn't seem like it's been that long and yet it also feels like forever, and I mean that in the best possible way. She's become such a huge and awesome part of my life, I can't imagine and can barely remember my life without her now.

I think if nothing else, being a new dad (or mum I assume) is a great way to refocus your priorities. There's a lot of shit that used to occupy my mind that really doesn't bloody matter and I just don't care about anymore.

She's doing really well by the way, starting to sleep better at night & gaining weight like a trooper. Have a couple of follow up appointments tomorrow but not expecting anything dramatic to stem from those.

HOLY SHIT! the art of my elderspawn is really starting to come along.

Her friend said "paint me wonderland" and this is the result, freehand of the top of her head.

We are looking at bike trailers, or some means of taking our youngest out riding -at least around town with us, hopefully on the access roads through the redwoods too.
The eldest is quite happy in the weeride, but the other is currently 5 months old (wont be taking her out till probably august though at least) & we are looking at ways to take her along too.

What has everyone else done? what worked & what didnt & what suited best as they grew (they're both going to be tall!)

Have a Adventure Bike Trailer which has been ok for around where we live in Paraparaumu which is a flat beachside "resort". Been fine along the beach and the short cut trails with two kids in it. Got it because it took a max weight of 38kg. Rolled it once coming down a stop bank once (apparently my fault according to the consensus on vorb at the time, I tried to blame the hitch) and the kids were fine if not a little shaken up, it held its shape and the belts worked.

Hate the axle mount though, it eats the drop out and braking sometimes can put hitch in the wheel. I got around this by building up a hack on an old Hardrock frame.

Rides easy though....

We bought ourselves a Burley D'lite. Ordered it in from the States (from Backcountry.com - on special). Great trailer (fits two kids). Can highly recommend it.

I'd have no qualms taking it around Whaka's fireroads. If it was the Solo I'd take it on some of the green trails too (but the D'lite is too wide).

The width is the only downside of a double trailer, and Its only an issue on narrow turnstiles on cycle trails.
