Ruapehu Season Rentals - Any Good?

Postby hinsonberger on Mon 17/May/10 6:43pm

Evening all,

Has anyone tried the Mt Ruapehu season rental gear? http://www.mtruapehu.com/winter/season_rentals/

I was wondering about ski boots. I realise they won't be really high spec'd gear, but can't stretch to purchasing my own boots at the moment so thought this might be worth a try?

I always have a hard time getting boots to fit my feet, so if I can find some that do fit well, it'd be nice to hang onto them for the entire season, & maybe longer?

Cheers ;)

I have used a pair of their boots for a day and the were pooze way to soft and flexi, I think they were their advance boots as well, would never do it again. Though I think It would be a great way to get in to the sport.

I'm in the same situation as you and I need to by my self some new boots, as the lining is ripped and falling out, and am going to have to front up the 4 figures to replace them :(

The other option is look for second hand kit, just make sure you try them on before you buy.

You will never regret buying top end boots as from my experience having them has reduced the number of falls I have in a day to about 2 or 3 at the most due to the
improvement in ski control especially long skis over 180cm. Think of the money spent as being a safety investment. There is a trade off they are not as warm but the
safety thing is more important to me. It would depend on how fast you like to ski too.
