Recommend Me An Android Sip Client.

Postby Dougal on Tue 26/Jan/16 6:37pm

Can anyone recommend me an android SIP (VOIP) client?

There are dozens and nothing on the surface to pick between them. I don't want to go through trial and error on all of them to find a nice user friendly one.
I'm using Zoiper currently but I can't answer from the lockscreen and I can't return calls as the syntax for the country code is wrong and won't let me change it.

I have CSipsimple but can't tell you if it has either of those problems as i do not use it that often. I think you can answer it from the locked screen I tried it once in may.

I am suing in simple mode but it has an expert mode so international prefix may be configurable there, but I have a feeling that international prefix is something that is sent by the calling phone. pm me if you want to test.

Google Hangouts Dialer

It's integrated with google voice so, free calls in (to) the US and fairly cheap international rates

Noooooo. Not that crap.

I've already got VOIP with tie into NZ phone system and great toll rates etc. I just need a better SIP client (dialler essentially) that works nicely on my cell phone.

So I've been through about 9 or 10 SIP clients and I found some interesting things.

Many which are highly rated just won't register my SIP accounts. Yet others do it fine.
There are about 5 different reskins of the same application. Yet some work fine and others don't.
Many can't handle more than one account.
Some require you to have an account on their network and are more of a social networking app which also does SIP.
Others have paid versions which seem to do nothing different to the free version.
Some won't work but claim they will if you buy the paid version.
Some won't let you name your SIP account so you're stuck with an identifier that looks like an IP address and can be quite difficult to tell which line is ringing.

I've settled on Zadarma SIP for now. It seems to work nicely, has a great notification interface, easy setup and handles multiple accounts which you can rename. Only had a couple of calls so far but it seems good.

on a related question does anyone ave a recommendation for a android video conference app. I want to dial into the work VC (polycom, lifesize) units from home (if you have a PC one that would be good too). dialing into a TPIT or VMP is another option.

you can do this with Skype business, but i don't want to pay for that.

I'm curious for this too. Blink works great for PC, but it's not on Android.
