Yeah, but not all, in fact most don't support it. You will still need 2 copies of the game.

Apparenty there is a module for the older ones. Slimline ones have inbuilt LAN ports.

Yeah it's the Network adaptor, I know I have one. I was more meaning from a software standpoint.

So all you pretty much need is a network cable, and two copies of a game that supports LAN play? Or will any 2 player game do it?

And software wise, will I need the CD that came with my Slimline PS2? Chuck that in and see what it tells me?

Haha, or is there any websites out there that will answer all my questons? I tried ye olde Gewgle, but theres just so many results ...

No, it needs to be a cross over cable, it allows two computers to be linked directly together, and not through a hub or switch. The DSE ones usually have red plugs, not black.

You need two copies of the game, and the game needs to support LAN play: think Time Spiltters 2 for example. A STD 2 player game will be split screen only.

By software I was referring to games. All the network stuff is handled in game.

No, finding info on PS2 Networking is tough, not many games supported it, and some that did were flaky at best: think Gran Turismo 4.

Phunk also bought up a good point, the pre slim line PS2's needed a network adaptor to play network games because there was no inbuilt Ethernet port. So if one of the consoles is the bigger style, you'll be shit out of luck. I have one, and I hunted high and low for it when I bought it, so I won't part with it! Any further q's just ask.

I've got the slimline PS2, and the network assist disc. And would it be possible to find a list of games that support LAN play? Or any other way of finding out?
