Swish!
Are the axle / dropouts / small parts the same as the old ones? Got yourself some spares or adjustments?

Had to buy an actual trail bike as my Nomad2 has morphed into full "Park spec" and no longer enjoys being pedaled uphill.
First impressions of the Foxy: it climbs as good as my Lurcher hardtail and descends nearly as good as the Nomad.
Just need to service the shock, replace the forks, tyres, rotors, drivetrain and every bearing, and it will be schmick.

Also welcome to Lockdown 4 again! Hope everyone is okay.

How does that thing not descend better than a Nomad 2? Because of geometry alone it should absolutely beat the pants off one.

I just ordered a Surly Corner drop bar for my Commencal XC bike. Gasp.

Welcome to the drop bar darkside, muah ha ha ha.

I have concluded after many years of ontrail experience, that as soon as you put curly bars on a mountain bike you are regarded as a roadie.

Mainly because there was no coating left on one of the (140mm) fork stanchions...
Have remedied that with a 160mm Fit4 fork and the aformentioned parts and loving.

In fairness the Nomad was running pretty lusty with a 160mm Lyric and 27.5" front wheel. I also imagine that its just "what I'm used to riding "
I will be sad to see the Nomad go, but the Foxy is a much better weapon from every angle.

Nice, 160 fork is what the Foxy should have always had.

I'm a mountain biker that needs more hand positions to do longer mountain bike rides on or around mountains :sly:
I still look at my road bike and feel nothing. I look at my mountain bike and get ideas

Speaking of mullet setups, here's the current state of the fleet.

Got 12sp XT drivetrains on both bikes now. Rocking the silver 10sp-era cranks and brakes on the Status but with Zee calipers for more power. 2021 Float X2 is a great shock but I'm less pleased with the (pre-VVC) grip2 fork. Not sure if I want to replace it with a VVC factory fork or send it to Dougal for some love.

For the Commencal I had to get a little bit creative putting the microspline driver on the 135 bolt-up pro2evo, either Hope doesn't officially support that combination or Dickson gave me the wrong set of bits  I modified part of an old I-spec 10sp shifter to fit to the 12 speed one, so it's looking nice and tidy mounted to the old XT brakes.
Aside from the drivetrain I haven't touched it much for a while. Found a 170g carbon saddle with cromo rails painted to match the ano on my dropper so it was meant to be. The under-saddle dropper lever hasn't annoyed me enough to switch it back to the handlebar lever yet so that's good. It's down to about 10.15kg now, or 12 on the dot with pump/tools/2 tubes/patch kit/OSM/full 750mL bottle. Could probably take some weight out of the tubes and frame bag. It's gonna gain a lot of weight with the chromoly Surly bar :hmmm:

It's good to see proper tires on it too. my aspens are as fast as a gravel tire and better in every other way... Glad I went for a tire width measured in inches instead of mm.

My bike has been the same one every year since 2014!! Might've added a few project bikes since then, but no new ones. :(

I fixed my fork problem with a factory 38, and got the weird hipster bars installed on the commie. Both have proven to be good decisions.
