Eastern side of the bridge (side with rockface) is saturated from groundwater, even though the rest of the track is bone dry. I know the timber is treated, but we might need to do some drainage work?

It's pretty solid rock right next to the bridge, but definitely could do with some about 20m back. Craig had some tyres that were destined for a sump - was that ever put in?

No sump that I saw, but was not looking out for one. It's the wet rock right up against the end of the bridge i'd be worried about, water is seeping out of it. Maybe some perf pipe with a geotextile condom over it, just to lead the water away. I think Craig has some somewhere.

One of our tools has gone missing from Transient. It is a custom stomping device, basically a long piece of 50mm dia pipe (5ftish) welded to a piece of rolled plate approx 180 sq. It is finished in a black etching primer. It weighs a ton and would be good to have back for armouring on other tracks. If anyone sees it, drop a message on here. Cheers!

An update: Brooklyn Trail Builders (we built Transient + Fling with a bunch of other volunteers) are working on a new downhill (Serendipity - duplicates the lower section of Tranny) and a new uphill off Holloway Rd to George Denton Park, so a big loop can be done around the reserve. The consultation process took about 6 months with WCC and all consents are in place. A signed MoU is also sorted.

The construction of the downhill track is to help remove some of the usage off Transient (it got 12,000 users in Jan 13!). 3 workparties a week are scheduled. See
https://www.facebook.com/BrooklynTrailBuilders
for details and other updates.

The following link has now been set up to help making donations easier:
http://wmtbc.org.nz/donations
Just tick the Brooklyn button and the money will hit us and the track will be built faster using student labour. Its a given that not everyone can come along and give a hand. Money works really well to ease your guilt!

Bump for tracks.org.nz - would be great to get Serendipity added to the Polhill section.

Bump for track closures.

Does that mean the loop of Transient - Serendipity below this is accessible? Their map suggests yes, but I wouldn't be surprised if not.

This might be the moment when you bite the bullet, sign up to Facebook and join Welly Tracks.

There’s been lots of talk and maps but I still don’t know what’s happening, it seems way too complex. There’s closures at Makara too.

Preparatory work has already begun to replace the 40-year-old conductors (wires) that service Wellington's Central Park substation. Replacing these ageing lines will require several tracks through Makara Peak and Central Park to be closed for safety reasons as we pull the lines between towers.

This work will take place:

December
Polhill closed 16 December
Makara Peak track closures 12-13 December

February
Polhill closed, some Makara Peak tracks (see map) 12-21, 26
Bottom of Transient track closed 1-28

March
Polhill closed, some Makara Peak tracks (see map) 17-21, 26, 28-30
Bottom of Transient track closed 1 February – 10 April

Hi all. A quick update to the trail closures this weekend. I just bumped into the Broadspectrum guy at the Sawmill/Fenceline intersection (was off to ride Spuds). Fenceline between Sawmill and the pylon (next to Spuds) is closed from now until the work is finished on Sunday. Sawmill is open, as long as you head south at the fenceline. There is a 'trail closed' sign on the Sawmill gate, he said it was placed in error so should be moved.

Remember, all trails in Polhill reserve APART from Clinical and George Denton/Squatters will be closed on Sunday. Cheers, Andrew

Thanks, I'd read all that - and the Sunday in question was yesterday.
Pretty sure I've made sense of all the closure days and tracks - except for the original question...

Will lower tranny - Dipity laps still be possible?
