I don't know the angle of that nail suggests higher trajectory, maybe a nail gun from a grass knoll.

Well, It did happen near a knoll. If only I had some shaky 8mm footage, of me riding by, that I could analyze frame by frame.

Those things are like hens teeth, should put it on TradeMe!

I once had a 10mm spinner ruin a brand new car tyre. Was wedge in it. Funny thing was I’d not being paying attention when I bought it and signed up for one of those full cover insurance policies on it.

:p *spanner

Shouldn't have replied, woke up this morning cursed with a puncture in the car.

Funny thing is, I'm crying over having to pay $445 a tyre for something I'll get nearly 40,000km out of carting 2 adults, 3 kids, 2 dogs and countless bikes at speeds of up to a whopping 110kmh (104kmh on public holidays)....

But shelling out $120 for a new bike tyre that I may get 1,000 km out of I don't even blink......

The front tires on my truck are coming apart in chunks :paranoid:

I had a pothole ruin a 2 day old RE003 and the rim on my GTB a while ago, that was rather vexatious...

Stupid potholes.

Rocks seem to be my MTB tyre nemesis, and rims as well, probably something to do with pies and ignoring the rocks... :paranoid:

235 65 18s on a Nissan Pathfinder.

Going with Continental Cross Contact Sports as they were already on it and only doing 2 at the moment. $400 - $500 seems to be the going rate on tyres like these.

Was worried that I was chewing through them too fast till I spoke to a mate on the weekend with a Audi Q7 and his are only lasting 25k

Yeah those are soft and fast wearing tyres. 40,000km would be excellent life. If you need the grip that's fine. But if you don't need the hot tarmac grip you can get a lot more life from an all terrain.

I got 70,000km from the last two Pure Contact on my car. The first two were murdered by stones on access roads. So I now run $140 dayton's (which are surprisingly good) and snow tyres on smaller rims.

That makes sense. I loved the contis on my BMW but they were pricey, even only being 17s.

Wondering what to do about tires for my truck. One set or two? Do I want to drive around with mud tires? probably not. Gonna be a big bill either way.
