How does one make the water at a certain temp? It's about 23 in the house and out of the tap. Just mix with water from the fridge?

Hi, Jo. I’m in Mumbai at the moment, and haven’t been checking the interwebby.

Don’t worry about the temperature. I just use ambient tap water, which changes very little. Run your first film, and then see if you need to adjust development time for more or less. For me, I add 30-60s (depends on whether it is a minute or minute + 1/2 standard development time, giving me 1 minute from the final inversion to walk through to do the stopping & fixing.

Weaker dilutions of developer give longer development times, which give less sensitivity to timing foobars...running all the way to stand development, which is almost non-sensitive.

These shots (which I’ve shown before) were taken in 1990 in Afghanistan on an ortho copy film, rated at 20 ASA. I found the exposed film last year, with no markings on the canister, and no memory of what I shot, when I shot it, and what film it might be. Stand-developing brought out super contrasty negatives (partly due to the film, and partly due to the time since exposure), but still visible.

Kewl! If you don’t already have one, get yourself a loupe or a jeweler’s magnifying glass to experience the full wonder.
I just shot some Tri-X 120 here in Mumbai. They’ll have to wait for developing until next weekend, when I’m back in KL. I’ll be in Ho Chi Minh for most of the following week, before heading down to Perth, prior to Brisbane or Aussie Track Natz. Planning on heading up with the family to Shark Bay after that, with the 4x5 getting an outing.

Using my phone as a "lightbox", taking a photo of the negative with my compact digital, then inverting in IrfanView. The clouds should make some interesting textures.

Good work, Jo.
In printing, you hope to have sufficient contrast present in the negative. In scanning, you hope to have flat tones (contrast gets added after). This looks like it will work well either way.
