Very nice Bigfoot, you seem to have a zoom now(?), but no bears thereabouts?

Stunning landscapes, Bigfoot - Keep 'em coming.
I spent the weekend up at my nephew's funeral in Northern Thailand. Not much photographing, but lots of reflecting...

Thanks! This is just my 70-200 f4, I have been searching for a more general purpose lens. Bears will come surely, but they are still largely in the higher ground, as the fish are still mostly out on the ocean. August we start flying every week to count fish, so that should be bear season!

Eoin - sorry to hear.

Shit thats no good, sorry to hear

I had crap weekend with the camera,
I had trainspoting plan that failed, I want to get a train on the viaduct just south of Ohingaiti, with clear skys I plan and adventure around northern Manawatu. I knew what time the Northern Explorer left Ohakune & PNC so I did guess-tamation and thought about 3:30pm, I went for a ride in a forest near Bulls on the way up, arrived just after 3 and started setting up realising i had left my battery in the car 200m away so ran and got it, was just getting my remote release out of my bag as the train rolled across so I reached up and hit the button on the camera, only to find I had the shutter release time delay turned on, the train rolled on by :(

I hadn't even started setting the camera, had just got it on the tripod

on the bright side I now know within a few minutes what time it passes over, there are only a few trains on saturday and I wasn't hanging around for the next one.
So I headed off to my planed sunset location, and took an average pic there

before heading south for to much cloud cover to make good astro happen,

no trains just Cloud, testing the location

not much to show for a tank of gas, I did get to drive a road that I had rallied a few times a few years ago but this time I got to stop and look at the views, which was cool I guess!

Astro train bridge is cool!

I decided to try this whole HDR deal out... but the back of a ford pickup is not the best replacement for a tripod...

Damn - You peoples have got some good sky action going on! All we have is pseudo hazy blandness. We're starting to get a few thunderstorms pre-dawn, so a couple more months should have us in Cumulonimbusville, Arizona. Stars and aurora's would be nice, though.
