Chur, Adrian. How was your trip? How did the A7R work out?
Looks like you got some stupa action and hot electrickery shots, too.

It was an interesting trip. I began to hate Kathmandu pretty quickly. It's a fascinating place but the dust and the filth did absolutely nothing for me. The mountains though is the complete polar opposite. I fell in love with the Khumbu region and its people. Unfortunately my climbing plans did not pan out thanks to altitude sickness in Gokyo, necessitating some pretty drastic action to keep me alive until I could be helicoptered out to hospital in Kathmandu. The mountain I was supposed to be climbing was closed anyways due to the avalanche risk. So a bit gutting, but hey I got out of there alive and the mountains aren't going anywhere. I've already started planning a return visit next year.

Camera wise, the A7R is probably the best photography purchase I've ever made. The MkIV metabones worked flawlessly and thanks to the focus peaking, manual focus on the Canon lenses was easy. I just wish I took more photos!!

Play time...

Jebus - Getting medivac'ed in the Himalayas is a notch in the belt - Glad it worked out OK. I'm also finding the A7R / Metabones MkIV combo to be good. My MkIII was reliably unreliable.

Wow - Impressive, Adrian! That's worth getting altitude sickness for. What was it you liked best up there?

Cheers Eoin! Those are from down low...about 3,500mish. :D

I just loved being up in the mountains. The scenery is mind blowing. I couldn't get enough of walking from village to village and being surrounded by 7,000 and 8,000m peaks. The Rai and Sherpa people are the most genuinely caring and friendly people on earth as well. I have been dreaming of going to the Khumbu ever since picking up a copy of Chris Bonington's book Everest the Hard Way... now I can't wait to get back there (next year!)

Moar later today!
