:hmmm:

I find that Wiggle > CRC. Although in this instance Wiggle didn't have the thing that I wanted.

Although in fairness to them, they've evidently sent the missing item as requested via much faster shipping which should arrive on Monday.

Respect.

Started the first stages of my cyclocross bike / fat-persons-road-bike last night, got paranoid late at night that the CRC sale would end, so deliriously investigated chain lines and parts compatibility, would have loved to have used Campag, but too expensive, and not the gear ratios I was after.

So I ordered XT triple cranks (to run as 42/32), 105 STI shifters/levers, and a 105 rear derailleur.

11-32 cassette, chain and yet to be determined spec front derailleur will be ordered at a later date.

Campag's lovely, but compatibility issues make it a bit of a pain.

Eg you want new wheelz, or you need to change cassettes, and it's just that much harderer to find something suitable at a good price :(

I didn't realize Wiggle were so great for prices. I've used Merlin for most of my online buys.

So, on the way is:
Hope Retainer Narrow/Wide Chainring 32T Silver
Shimano ZEE M640 Shadow Plus Rear Derailleur 32-36T Wide Ratio Short Cage SS
Elite Custom Race Resin Cage Stealth Black
Dakine Exodus Glove Large Black

And from Uberbikecomponents.com - who make some cool stuff:
Elixir 9 Race matrix pads
Half Waffle Lock On Grips w/silver lockring

And picking up some Spank 777 bars after work for the DH bike! So the AM bike gets the 750mm ones from my Glory.

I wanted a shorter stem (current is 70mm) but couldn't find anything at the right price.

It's like Christmas :D

Yeah you get a massive thriftyness boner whenever you buy stuff from wiggle/CRC :D

That said, my LBS adjusted my derailleur, replaced a barrel adjuster I'd monged up and replaced a spoke/trued a wheel for $39 the other day. Not a bad price at all :0

That's a really good price! I usually get parts fitted and services done by my LBS. If I mess up this derailleur swap I'll be paying them a visit. It's not out of the question :p

Sram X1 1400 Crankset for $230. Should I be worried I'm buying parts for a bike I don't yet have ?!

Quick shout out to teh Amazons. Ordered a new pair of climbing boots on Monday and have them in my hands this morning (Friday). That's pretty speedy all the way from Kentucky with free shipping to boot. Only drawback is that they collect duty at point of sale so there's no slipping one past customs.

Most have my online purchases recently have been outdoor gear from the likes of Campsaver and Backcountry in the States in prep for a trekking/climbing trip to Nepal that I've got coming up. Have found in general that 4-5 days is the norm in getting stuff here (either direct or once it's left Youshop for brands they won't send direct).
