Yup.

Also dental surgery now is a whole lot more of a gentle science than it was back in the day. Our eldest daughter had 8 teeth removed when she was about 4, and came out of it relatively unscathed, with a much better jaw.

My seven year old has been in for dental stuff twice and it has had to be done under a general, it's been pretty successful, he now has a mouth with a number of stainless steel crowns so looks a little bit like a little Jaws when he smiles!

It's made me a little sad, and the idea of CJ having her first op is having a wee tug at the heart strings.

Ah well. It could be a whole lot worse in terms of problems I guess, so pretty lucky really. But still bloody shame.

Our oldest has the exact same thing - in her case its behind one of her front teeth, and is orientated forwards & back, rather than side to side (if that makes sense). We went & got it checked out; they've said its no issue at all unless it starts hurting her or pushing the other out of place. in that case its an operation. i know what you mean, when i first heard that I wasnt happy about such a little girl going under the knife like that but my wife used to be a dental assistant & assures me its not that uncommon or a big deal & likely wont have to happen anyway.

Thanks all! Much better.

Yeah, they butchered me when they did it, and if you know me IRL, then you know I ain't got the prettiest teeth. Still petrified of the 'murder house'.

Le. Sigh.

We have a dental appt. on Thursday to have a look at it.

Here is the offender...

Jim's got an extra tooth up the top behind his front two. I'm thinking that Clara might have the same as only one of her front teeth has dropped and the other one just isn't wiggly yet. She's already been in for dental surgery under a general at 4.5 years (which was way more traumatic for me than her...) but I hope the other front tooth behaves and starts wiggling soon.

My middle boy's got an extra one growing with his baby teeth, dentist told us not to be too worried about it as its pretty normal. Glad to see reading here that it is!

Watching your kids have a general anesthetic ain't nice. My eldest had a blocked tear duct and has had 5 of them due to various attempts to correct it. first at 3 months last at 4.5 years.

I had a new parenting experience last night - my son brought his first real girlfriend home for dinner! It seems like only yesterday I was bringing mine home to meet my Mum, so it was weird being on the other side of the deal, with all the slightly awkward smalltalk and stuff. Very, very weird.

Oh wow - I can't even imagine what that's going to be like. Fortunately I think I have a few years before I need to worry about that one.

I know right?!! She was very prem, so I kinda thought I'd be okay with all the needles and process, but the sad smile and the rolling eyes cut pretty deep. Thank christ for sympathic dental nurses :)

The whole growing up into adults thing I'm finding a little surreal. My daughter has just got boobs, and that is just bizarre, what are boobs doing on my little girl?! And my god the eating!! She eats as much as me sometimes at meals, I guess it must be worse with a teenage boy for that though

Did you clean a loaded shotgun in the living room while he visited. Y'know, just for the effect :p

Yeah My 17 year old has her boy around quite a lot for dinner etc, I like him, he's alright. Listens to heavy metal too so can't be all bad.
