Re: What Did You Buy From Wiggle This Week?

I rode/walked into a bike shop and bought a rear brake caliper. It was a second hand part from a crashed bike and looks like new. Same price as online and I'm back on the road without rear brake pads rubbing. Watch out tomorrow

First part I've bought local for quite some time. They had a big sign up over their counter saying helmets purchased online from overseas don't have AS/NZ stickers and aren't legal in Australia.

I've seen a few people selling those ridiculous looking Giro aero helmets because they turn up on the start line and the commissars won't let them race in them as They haven't been approved in Aus and NZ

Thankfully NZ isn't as backwardly anal as Australia when it comes to helmets. Anything with an AUS/NZ, Snell, CE or ANSI sticker is legal here. Which makes sense. Australia and NZ are small markets, why should we have to pay a premium for standards testing just for us when perfectly adequate testing has already been done overseas? The lawmakers actually used common sense when drafting our helmet laws.

When did common sense have anything to do with lawmaking?

So.. can I assume from this thread that wiggle are OK to purchase from / deal with?
I need to get another Speedo Aquabeat MP3 player as my old one has died after 4 years, and they have the one I want for $145 which is 100 less than locally
I have another cheapie I can use in the interim, but dont want to wait too long though

yep. Wiggle have always been good to deal with.
And CRC. And Bike24. And any number of others mentioned in this thread, generally.

Most deliveries these days seem to take about 2 weeks from the UK.

Picked up a dura ace 9000 rear 24 hole hub from wiggle, powertap 11 speed replacement free hub body (due to cracking the 10 speed one) from jensenusa. A R4 Easton ceramic shimano 11 speed hub for the tubulars from bicyclebuys in the USA.

Pretty much all for under half local buy price. Dunno how they do it

Paying GST on purchases below $400 could be coming closer:

Still will not help the local retailers as even with GST added usually still cheaper from overseas.

I asked someone who knows stuff about it and said this about the credit card gst stuff "Would be completely dependent on the merchant and require card scheme changes to the data format used by every card processor globally. Not going to happen "

A box of goodies arrived from wiggle today. Pretty slow delivery. Ordered and dispatched on 20 June. Nothing terribly exciting though.

K-Edge Garmin mount
Look Keo cleats
Defeet gloves
Castelli socks x2.
