Yay for Zenit!
Russian cameras were crazy good value back then. We bought a Lubitel twin lens for $14 new, it had a damn sharp lens. It wasn't half as tough as the Zenit though, the plastic cases would crack when dropped and require gaffer taping shut thereafter.

Interesting story with this one. My Step father bought this camera from a secondhand dealer back in the 80's. Apparently a Russian sailor tried to pay his taxi fare in rubble's but the taxi driver wouldn't accept it so took his camera for payment for his fare instead.

Hey good photogs of vorb - any tips for shooting in snow?

Heading up to Banff next week for the mountain film fest, and have not a tonne of experience shooting in the snow. I have a 7d w 17-40 f/4 L that I use mostly. Probably bring along the 70-200 f/4L as well, but dont know how much use it will get.

Merci in advance!

Lucky bugger!

Exposure compensation (+1 stops or more) to counter the reflectiveness is probably the main thing to remember as the camera's meter will be fooled by it, especially if using Evaluative metering. Spot metering on your subject (or manually averaging exposures across your scene) is another option.

Good shit on shooting in the snow here...

Yeah, Bigfoot - Don't forget that automatic metering will tend to try to make the snow gray, and that it's OK to have snow blowout the highlights to an acceptable level. Play with manual settings and see what works. Most of all, enjoy it.
