...and this evening's walkabout in crappy light. While I was busy trying to play Mr Macro chasing dragonflies with some extension rings by a pond, a 4-5' monitor went swimming across into the bush. By the time I'd detached the extension rings, he/she was almost gone and I missed getting any good shots (the one below is not sharp). The macro shots are not particularly good, but I enjoyed the chase.

I was experimenting with ND filters, I got the impression that with a ND8 filter that you can leave the shutter open for up to 30 seconds in daylight to soften the water.

Here a couple of pics I took earlier of the choppy lagoon. the photos were four and five second exposures, F22, ISO 100. using a CPL and ND 8 filter together.

Photos were over exposed, I had used the "Auto Adjust Colour" function with Irfanview.

What is your advise and experinces with ND filters? What am I doing wrong?
