Cheers peeps. Just got the front one to do. Can I just remove the front caliper, hose and lever and take those in?

Ok here goes.
Building up a MTB single speed and would love to use a old set of carbon road cranks, yes road cranks.
Can it be done, they are octalink 130bcd, so will be running a 39t ring.
the Bb shell on the frame is a standard 68, would trying to find a bb at 115mm+ be the way to go?
is octalink still even around/are the old truvativ gigapipe Bb's compatible with octalink?
could be more trouble than its worth, but badly want to use these cranks.

Octalink is still around. It is a Shimano proprietary interface, and their cranks are aluminium. Count your splines.

A photo of the crank may help if it has no ID written on it.

Here is FSA Team Issue "Serie's List". That is how they spelt it so don't expect them to know there as from they're elboe.
http://www.fullspeedahead.com/family_list/5/TEAM-ISSUE

MTBs have wider splayed chainstays for tyre plus mud. If you are running your ring on the inside position youhave to think about whether the ring hits the chainstay, since it is a lot bigger than a MTB granny. Then worry about whether your crank ends will hit the chainstays.

This could be expensive stuff to work out by mail order so unless you are very confident in your ability to handle a ruler it would be better to drop into a bike shop who likely already know the answer, or can measure up and try parts if need be. And they have the parts to get your chainline right.

OK, so my cleats on my Shimano roadie shoes need replacing. After the application of some force with a screw driver I have got all the screws turning, but they are not unscrewing - I suspect the threaded bit in the sole is spinning around.

What are my options - a good soak with WD40 or similar? carefully drill out the screws? some other cunning solution?

Even if I get the screws out, are the shoes stuffed if the threaded bits keep spinning? They are not cheap so I'd like to keep them going.

And yes, I did grease the threads before installation (but that was about 5000km ago).

Take out the insole out of the shoe, you might be able to see what the cleat screw threads in to, and if it's moving or not.
wd40 may do the trick with the threads as well

Yeah, tried that but there is another thin layer glued over the metal bits. If I have no success with overnight WD40 I'll try the LBS, then if no other options will cut into the thin layer.

By the way will WD40 harm teh carbon fibre?

once you have done all your repairs, put some insoles into your shoe. Could well be better than new..

Specialised have good ones, with good arch support.

Camping and outdoors type shops also have products that can be useful.

Could try an impact driver, or if you can get onto the heads of the screws with a pair of pliers try pull/push them while undoing - might give enough friction on the insert to allow the screw to break free

Righto, so i have a some Domain 302 (probably 2009 or thereabouts) forks and i want to get a bit more control into them so was wondering if the Motion Control unit from my Boxxer Race forks will fit in. Anyone had any experience in tinkering with the 302's?

35mm Boxxer?
Might be better off sourcing a MoCo from a 318 Domain.

It will stop you from glueing the nuts back into the carbon, if that is possible anyway.
