This arvo I swapped out the chain and gave the bike a decent clean and service. Took me ages to get the front derailleur re-aligned and tuned in properly but it's all sweet now.

Next up I just need someone to have a decent special on a pair of conti 4000s tyres and that'll be me set for summer.

Capital Cycles in Wellington have Conti 4000s for sale at $60 on their website.
They are $70 if you buy in store.
Probably the cheapest price in the whole world.

My LBS wiggle has them for $52 at the moment . . . still cheaper.

Wow, hill reps in the dark are a new sensation. Maungatuks road. First climb was light enough, as was the descent, second time up I was really getting dark. 3rd & 4th were just total dark. Too early for the moon, but heaps of stars out, and lots of planes.
climbing in the dark was just fantastic. No street lights, no cars, nothing but me, the music and the gentle sound of tyre on road. Descending was not quite so pleasant and certainly was not a high speed affair. I really need helmet mounted lights if I want to do that more often, but I've only got one more set of hill reps prior to daylight savings starting, so I wont bother buying anything new now.
Beautiful night for it though.

Plus off shore service margins on your cc . . . ha ha.

Just got my $600 NZD Shimano R315's shoes shipped for $338 from my LBS wiggle . . . got to love that NZ mark up! Although there was a store who would do a deal for $500, but could not get my size.

Just picked up my TOS tyre stock vittoria Corsa EVO CX for $47 each . . . they still want $165 here in NZ . . . .

Wiggle is your friend!

Well...ummm...I do have a unicycle, and I am learning to ride it, but um, I don't think I'm ready for hill reps on it yet.

Went for a toodle over the Akatarawa Hill. Hadn't realised the bridge work was still ongoing. But luckily they weren't working today and the guys checking the site said it was ok to go thru.

Added bonus. It meant no cars on the narrow twisty hill section. Woot

and a few stairs by the 3rd bridge.

Great day for a ride on quiet roads.

Bike and shoes in serious need of a clean now.

Did you ride to the hospital or get a lift? :o

I got out for a short spin today. Nice to see the recent dedication to commuting has paid off. Roll on summer!

Combination of a worn drivetrain and rumble strip conspired to cause my gears to lock/slip. Went down hard on the shittiest road known to man which ripped me up pretty bad. Got a ride in the white taxi to hospital. 4 stitches in my knee later and a bunch of bandages I got home :(

I have had more than enough crashes lately :(
