Right on.

It's worth remembering too that one of the local residents has a seat on Council and is known to bring forth some pretty anti-MTB views from time to time.

I was informed today that there is a process going on right now regarding Reserves and discussion of bike access in various spots across town. It seems that at least three Councillors, including the aforementioned one that lives in Aro Valley, are pushing back on bike access and not just in Aro Valley but also on Mt Vic.

There is still a majority of support for the extensive bike access we have in Wellington but we should NEVER take it for granted. Riding Squatters (or lower Planet Ride / Back Yard for those that still do) will only lead to the anti-Mountain Bike voices which definitely do still exist saying "see you let them build new tracks in the area and they still ride on closed tracks".

Saw a red van shuttling from windmill and noticed it coming out of Holloway Rd when taking a breather at the bottom of Transient on Sat.
Not to be a nanny, but if what Ben is saying is correct, then this is just ammo for the people opposed to bikes.

Of course, they might just live up there.

So it is wet today with the rain radar showing bits of blue. I will be turning up- just before 1pm, Craig’s away. It is supposed to clear later, query how late, we've done alright by missing most of the bad weather lately.

So currently we are working on the already dug track just past the connection to Planet Ride. We are widening this, removing all the soft rubbish, adding bumps and dips to try to get flow and armouring all the soft bits with natural rock. There appears a lot of soft bits in this area.

At our current manpower levels and with Craig also working on getting Barking Emu ready for a summers opening, were looking at 100 meters or so a month. So with over 800 meters to do plus a switchback we may be there for some time.

So we would obviously still like your help - actually we need your help- to get the track done in a reasonable time so we can then move onto the other projects. I'll be digging most Saturdays, so send me a pm if interested, or just ride up or text 0273144569. Normally 11-3. When daylight savings comes around we will review how we are going and if needed look at a mid week dig.
cheers

So then. I'm on for more liberation of the oppressed rock (and distribution thereof onto the muddy masses). 12-ish at the top of Transient as usual...

Hi guys,
Rode down from the top on a night ride tonight, great job on the armouring.
Pretty solid.
Saw about 15 people out night riding in Polhill/Hawkins Hill area, so the track has succeeded in opening the area up (without using a road)

Max (4) & Isaac (11) lend a hand with a bit of impromtu re-benching on Transient yesterday. I totally lost count of the number of riders/walkers/runners that came through while we were there, the combination of good weather & great tracks really brings them out :)

We rode through about 20 mins after southerly front came over - Track is so sheltered that we had to strip a layer of clothing off - Wanted to do Car Parts and tip track but cold wind put us off. Again THANKS HEAPS for a great track

Can't say a big enough thanks to the builders, I used the track for the second time this morning (dh this time) - it is a great asset to the Wellington network and creates a fantastic link to the South Coast.

Yeah.. and just amazing, how dry the track is!

I spotted Kev yesterday, putting buckets of water he collected off his roof, onto the track - Legend!
