It seems that seldom days like this come about in Wellington. What a perfect morning and afternoons commute & it's the 3rd day of 70k+ commuting this week. Having a day off riding tomorrow but back out on Saturday for an early morning ride.

yup Sunday's all good. As for needing a guide.....meh...you'd have to deliberately go the wrong way to get lost and even then you'd only find dead ends.

rode up SH2, but we were getting hit by the easterly, quite strong, so we thought we'd change route and so Haywards and Paekak instead of Akas. WInd continued up the Haywards, but lovely on the other side, and idyllic up Paekak. Only the second time I've done this route (first time was a howling headwind) and it was beautiful riding. Bit worrying getting across SH1 though at Paekak proper, and stationary traffic before raumati. Close call with a car turning across into Poplar Ave (Raumati South), but then got caught for real by car turning across at Otaihanga.

End result:

I've done around 10k on this bike since June, and I figure around 16k up to then. It's taken me from 112 kgs to 80. Sad to see it go.

I had a nice ride today. As a mate pointed out to me the other day, I could probably ride around the Bays blindfolded nowadays, but why would I want to when it's so beautiful?

A death in the family is always sad, I am sure it will heal over time . .. or as soon as you are rolling on a new Trek . . . :)

Thursday afternoon, TT smash fest, leant Kev my Reynolds disc. so he responded by smashing it (and us) around our club TT track a couple of times! man it is hard to keep up rolling on training wheels vs disc! 52 km 90 minutes, Thursday turned in to a double ride day . . .

Some of the non regulars who joined the session wondered what hit em!

Friday, tempo TT ride, usual 90 minute circut 45 km, but it only took 75 minutes! got to love the TT rigs!

Saturday . . . just about to head out for 90 minutes before heading to Tauranga for the day . . . . . . TT rig of course!

feel well enough to take the kids on this weekends tramp :)

no cycling for a few days, should be fine to take the litespeed up the KCC hill climb on Tuesday (was thinking about using the trek with it's compact crank, but no)

have fun all!

Secrets....ride lots!!! Eat less. I'm another in the same boat, started worse, lost more (40 something for me) but it's taken longer. It all comes down to less in & more out = lost weight.

106k Aka's loop for me yesterday. About 10-15k worth of it in the rain, had cleared by the top, but still the wet road made for an overly cautious descent for me. Cleaned the bike in the arvo, cause surely it wouldn't rain on me again today......Beautiful start through to Waikanae, wet from Pekapeka, wetter still by Te Horo, and pretty much persisting down in Otaki, where I was to meet LycraLarry.
Sat outside the coffee shop (closed) feeling sorry for myself, but got sympathy from a few locals. Waited for a while till LL showed up and we had a coffee before heading south again. I decided not to do the aka's thing so pulled off at Waikanae where it was all nice an clear again.

Back home to clean the bike again.....just 51k for me, but I am stoked at having ridden 386km this week and having the legs feeling good. This is probably one of my largest ever riding weeks, and I've finally made it to second on the work board for ride this month. The guy in #1 place is just short of 1000k for the two weeks. I'm lingering on only 540.
