Are there any benefits to having that type of drivetrain instead of the usual system?

1. You can have a high forward pivot without the chain growth issues and don't need to run an idler pully like a corsair, canfield etc
2. Weight centralised in frame
3. No derailleur to smash off
4. Can change gears without pedalling

There are more, but the first one is the most awesome IMO

I may be exposing my ignorance, but does it not have an idler pully back near the dropouts? Looking at it, there must be a bit of chain growth, even if just a little?

I dunno, I'd have to see a closer pic, my eyes are fucked or something, I thought the whole idea with having the gearbox is that they route the chain in such a way that it isn't affected by the axle path hence no growth

fixed postion tensioner of some type perhaps? as there doesnt look like there is a way of tensioning the chain even if there is no chain growth in the system.

There is a tensioner arm down by the rear axle, because the main pivot isnt concentric with the gearbox axis, but chain growth would be fairly small me thinks. :)

Every couple of days the cleaners get anal about everything going back exactly where they're "supposed" to be. I wish to imaginary God I could see their faces this morning...
