So what happens when Transient meets up with (the closed) Planet Ride, as I think it will do? Get off and walk?

Run.

Seriously though, it is going to join onto the upper section so it will be dual use, lower section of PR foot only (as far as I know)

Heres the deal at present - but it might change. The upper part of PR generally follows the contours and will be renamed as Transient (the steep sections will be re-routed). Where the PR track heads down the spur (following the old 4WD track to the pylon), this will still be called PR and will have a sign saying no biking. This will avoid confusion about which tracks can be riden (only Highbury Fling and Transient can be ridden). WCC have been very helpful (permission to track build, buying tools, graveling, plants, weed control, building retaining walls and bridges, training courses, Ranger labour etc) so we are keen to keep the big group hug thing going!

We are getting some excellent volunteer support at present so the track build progress is speeding up compared to winter. Transpower did a mighty session on H Fling yesterday. The Revolve crew are helping hugely every other Tues evening @ 5.45 (next 23rd Nov). Both the Revolve and the weekly Wed lunchtime sessions are open to all-comers.

We have blazed an approx route (parts are yet to be re-done) up to the junction with PR and its about 650m to go.

thanks to five members of the Revolve cycling group, another good section of trail half dug between the trees. On again in a fortnight time, from 545.

To Jo, when riding up the track, just head south at the last switchback before Karepa St, rather than following the switchback around to the left, there's a narrow path, then single track for 500 meters or so. Unless you are early someone will have put out a sign advertising the dig. :)

Workparty on tomorrow. Weather should be OK. Will aim at finishing off the good work that the Revolve crew did last Tuesday.

See Transient.

Digging is at the southern end. To get there, deviate off the existing track at the switchback just below the connection to the Karepa Street path. Zoom in to the map to see where the track starts/ends.

Great turnout yesterday - maybe 10 of us beavering away. Managed to move a few large trees and bench the majority of the first cut benching that the Resolve crew did a week back.
