If you're serious about it then I'd recommend spending money on a cover for your camera, rather than a special bag. Then the camera will be protected when you're shooting as well as when you're moving, and you can shoot in all weather and also not worry about mud and dust from riders even in good weather. And get some great action splatter shots...

I've got a sports sleeve that I use for alpine photography which is weather proof and allows full use of the controls. Chuck that in a neoprene bag for carrying and you're good to go.

If you think you might get REALLY wet (like falling in a river crossing or something) then you could go for a full waterproof cover, and never worry again. But access to the camera controls is a lot more restricted, I would imagine.

+1 on a good cover. I use a similar one to what's on that link when I'm out in the rain, or on the water shooting sailing. As a lot of my best sailing shots come from shooting from a small (very wet) RIB then protection from saltwater is a real concern. If the camera isn't in hand then I keep it in a drybag (with two big packets of silica gel as humidity in the drybag can be an issue). I also keep a big microfibre cloth handy to give everything a wipe when needed.

Been out at the Nelson Cycle Festival, they had bit of DH race at Emano st.
Still getting to grips with off camera falsh, improving though.

I use these for lenses - made out of 90mm iPlex PVC pressure stormwater pipe and fittings - just cut to different lengths for lenses - bombproof and more importantly, waterproof and inexpensive.
