I got one. Great landscape lens. Wish I could get out with it more often.

I've got a friend whose sole lens is one of them. They seem well stoked with it too.

Ive got it, 70-200 f/4L and a 50mm 1.8 or something... I hope to be giving all of them a workout this weekend as I am going to be up at one of the most famous salmon runs in the world, during a record year for sockeye... what a dork I am

How do you find the 4L in low light conditions? I'm looking at getting one when I get my 550D, but a friend with a 2.8L says I should save up for the 2.8 as it's far more useful for sport photography/videography

Just looked up the 2.8 - it's not as much of a price jump as I'd expected. Interesting. Also learned that there are IS/Non IS L series option - I'd just assumed they were all IS...

In terms of video stuff, low light is always the enemy - I'd be springing for the bigger aperture if it was realistic to get the coin together.

2.8 is a much nicer lens - it is also a hell of a lot larger! I don't do video, so it's hard to say for me... there are a lot of them around, maybe try a friends? I went with the f4 as I needed the relative portability, but have not had any complaints with it.

My next will be a 100-400 I think... or a new body :)

Nice! Be intrested in your thoughts on it!

As for the 70-200's

The f4L is about $1100, f4L Is is about $1800, f2.8 $2300, f2.8IS $3200, F2,8L IS mkII about $4k.

There all great, obviously the new $4k one is the best but the f4 ones are pretty damned good and a lot smaller/lighter.

I love the 2.8 of mine but am tempted to buy a f4IS and a 1.4tc instead due to the weight.

But then I want a 120-300f2.8 OS too LD
