I rode around some flat low-lying land to check out what the flood got up to. Only saw one house in the water, and even then only just. So I think most people escaped. Tried going over a stop bank a couple of times, but in both cases the river-side of the banks were flooded and roads closed. Looked like a lot of places came bloody close to substantial damage though, so I guess the rain stopped at the very last possible moment

I ate quite well afterwards!

4,557 m vertical climbing in 181 km, 233 km total, will do that for you!

Banged up Horokiwi road a couple of times (first time up it on the new bike), and then hit up the virtual tour of Wellington prologue. May as well not have bothered doing the prologue though as my leggy-weggys were giving me the good news and I didn't exactly smash it.

I decided to do some wind training today, so rode the Welly Bays!!! That was hard work, going up nappy valley road into a block headwind knocked what I had left in me out. I was hoping to break 60 mins for the leaderboard, but alas 66.07, taking only 20 seconds off my PB.
Full ride was 40km at avg 29.2, 1131 calories @ 828 cals/hour shows I was working pretty hard.

You can do this by. Ride commute and press lap where you want them. Convert ride into course on 705. (note lap markers added in training center will not activate auto lap function). Before ride set auto lap by position and ride commute as a course. 705 will then add lap markers as you ride pass points you previously pressed lap.

Being ridden as a course, also turn on virtual partner active, to race yourself.

Hope that helps

yep, sounds pretty simple! cheers

Sunday Rode up from my house to Gebbies, wanting to go along the Summit Rd. 6 thin cracks across the road in 6km to the Wheatsheaf. About 4 up Gebbies. Most were running along the edge of the road, giving you the impression that large areas could slip away in the next rain. Couple of more impressive ones just before Bitch1 heading towards Govs, but already partially filled by contractors.

Cruised past Beckenham and saw the corner of the building above the Post Office had fallen in so hope the whole block isn't condemned :(
Not much damage to be seen heading towards Sumner except for quite a few brick chimneys ready to fall at any moment and a burst water pipe spewing water out of the ground near Rapaki out of some persons lawn. Saw 1 young guy up on his roof securing a tarp after his chimney had gone through it. Summit Rd had reopened from Evans to SOK so went along there. Quite a few holes in the road where falling boulders had punched into it. Huge scar from where the Sou Eastern side of Castle Rock had fallen away. The main boulder of which had somehow stopped going all the way down to the road and blocking the Lyttelton tunnel fortunately! No idea how many 1000's of yrs that rock has been sitting there getting weathered by the elements until Saturday. But now its gone.
Before the quake, after, and the scar it made on the hill:

Yeah that is a great function - should have mentioned it. The other thing you can do if you're doing the same route often is with a program like Sporttracks you can overlay the graphs for the rides which gives an interesting comparison.
