True, the looks I got with the 7D & 120-300f2.8 at warbirds were funny!

Especialy from the guy with an xxD and 70-200.

Without knowing much about what's on the market these days, as a general principle any DSLR from the last five years or so will be great for learning on. If you buy second-hand you can always sell it on again in six months to a year once she gets to know what's what, and won't lose much money (compared to buying something new and then upgrading).

Staying with some friends and thier very lovable pooch Inca.
She hates the camera, especially the sound of the lens focussing, so she tries to bite it, even from a distance!

Theres not a lot of difference between the two cameras. D3000 is newer but doesnt do anything the 450d does (infact the 450D has mirror lockup, dof preview, can take a grip etc).

Effectivly the 450D is a step above the D3000's level (which competes with the 1000D) but its 2 models old now.

Either will do fine, biggest downside of the D3000 tho is the lack of body motor so a lot of lenses wont auto focus (only AF-S will).

probably more important to hold them and see which feels better/works like you do, canon and nikon are both great but do work in almost opposite ways.

And FWIW i've only ever have bad experiences with WPS..and way too pushy, or at least the owner is.

I liked Colin Kirk on Lambton quay better
