oh my bikes,
Yamaha tt250 for a bit of mud flinging fun
Suzuki GT750 waterbucket, yep a real whale but oh so smooth once wound up!
Yamaha XS1100 another lump but nice tourer.
Then gave up bikes and got into old cars instead,
oh and bikes with pedals.
and old yachts currently sailing 1907 logan gaff cutter.

Those cop bikes were good value.
John does great work on his bikes and I try to equal that with the quality of my paint jobs for him.

That yacht sounds cool. I’d love an old sailboat…but wouldn’t like to maintain one!

It's ok, it's only a photo of 1/2 a boat

but from what I can see a very nice old girl.

A few years ago my dad offered me his sailboat(18 foot keeler that we built together when I was a teenager) for free, but at the time the thought of having a trailer built for it and buying a car to tow it up here from Dunedin was way too much trouble so I said no

She's a lovely girl. Who's the designer/year etc? While we're on the topic, here's the folks' 1905 Albert Stange yawl 'Sheila' with him at the helm. Sorry to all the bikers who have no interest in boats also!

Doh, so that'll be the 1907 logan then. Didn't read back far enough. Loverly. The curve in the boom is great - that sail is setting beautifully.

One of the reasons I (used to) like riding Tamaki Drive is the opportunity to stare at all the lovely boat rumps :blush:

Nice. My old man and his brother have a Gaff cutter, a 1936 Lidyard. Lives in the marlborough sounds. I'm always paranoid taking it out, while I can sail it okay, you're pretty much guaranteed to have something break on every other trip out, and I don't rate my chances vs one of the ferrys..

Yep, she's the original 'Sheila'. However the one sailed out here was Sheila II; she is exactly the same just a bit bigger all round and built 1922 if I remember. Now owned by the former mayor of Hamilton, Russell Rimmington. My dad was here a couple of months ago and ended up meeting him and took some photos of the hull which is sound but in need of a lot of work. The first Sheila is still in the UK on the East Coast, she's being fitted out for summer at this very moment. Here's another gratuitous photo...

I'm just hoping the old man won't sell her and feels like leaving me her in his will! Although like you I'm not keen on the maintenance (mainly the cost, I like the actual farting around (excuse pun) bit).

And would there be any legal reasons it couldnt have a bike rack?

Depends on the 250, anything from "Cant remember the last time I filled it?" to "OMFG Ive only just filled the damn thing!".

As a yard stick, my old ZXR 250 did around 280-300k's on a 17l tank, depending on how much time was spent above 11000rpm!

No reasons I know of why you cant fit a bike rack to any motorcycle. :eh:
