Correct! 'Tis a 1984 Lotus Excel. Apparently, it's a 2.2l "slant four", and about 134kW. From what I can look up, it's based on the Eclat design, so pretty close to the mark Shmoo!
I spent about 10 mins admiring it.

Really???? Looks only slightly like the Excel down the road....maybe its an earlier or later model, or US spec or some such. Windows on the rear are a different shape

now that would be unusual and interesting......now if you spot one of the 2L SSS Sentra Wagons that's worth getting a picture, quite rare and very quick and so long as it has the strut brace and rear roll bars installed go round bends quite nicely to. Basically its the UK Primera motor so has some nice bits inside it.
