What are the requirements? as in applying, acceptance, gear etc? i went on the Ruapuna track website but it didn't have much there... and kiwibiker had an infinite list that i couldn't be bothered sifting through. Weird. i got the shop to put on a new chain and replace both sprockets today. picked it up and head out for a back road hoon. bike struggles to hold 5th through town (which it is usually most comfortable with) which was odd also because it usually has slightly more off-idle pull when it's cold, so i couldn't blame the engine. I put it aside anyway and long story short it's actually because the bike now has slightly taller gearing. i get 1000 less rpm at 100km/r which makes me wonder whether it was geared down before, or the shop got the wrong sprockets

Trackday the key requirements are:

leathers (zip together road leathers would be fine)
current non fucked helmet.
boots gloves back protector (I can lend you one I think)

bike is tape up glass, put tape over speedo, good condtiion tyres, take off mirrors and indicators (or tape them) and taillights.

Have at it.

its really good fun. You will be best pre-entering but you would have to be at Poona by about 8am at the latest to deal with signin, gear and bike scrutineering etc. Its organised by Sportzone Suzuki and the Canty Motorcycle club: they both have websites with the requirements.

cool thanks. I'll definitely look into it then. I've got gloves and a couple of good helmets, and could probably find some leathers and boots pretty easily.

Why do you have to tape up the speedo? distraction?

I'm doing a degree (3 years) in mechanical engineering at the polytech. it's only just come in.

Finally tire manufacturers have come around to showing how far you lean the bike over. But the only concern I have is what happens when you lean over til you rub off the elephant

On a totally unrelated note I was Idly watching the AMA SX lastnight as I drank myself to sleep. Which didn't work because half a bar of whittakers 72% had me laying in bed contemplating safe cycling till 4am. Zing! Anyway during the american ad breaks we get to here the bikes without the annoying commentators. Geez those guys seem just hold the 4strokes on the rev limiter through the air, an they grap a LOT of air. For a man with an ounce for mechanical sympathy it was painful to hear

This is the closest I’ve got to a motorbike in recent times (apart from my own one but that’s a sad story at the mo’ ).
I’m respraying my friend’s tank/sidecovers for his ‘70s Honda CB550 he’s restoring.
I did the bodywork for his XJ550 he did two years ago – it turned out a nice job so hopefully I can equal it with this.

It has more to do with carpark banter. You can still use the wear dots, but this is easier to explain to the middle aged fat bloke on a very expensive sports bike farting on about how quick he is.
