photo and video list price is$729 but take about ten to twenty % off depending on how often you buy from them

but after havin a good look id be wary most of there stores appear to be office type buildings

Oh, i see now. It goes up considerably for the bigger lenses due to extra pagkaging etc required and before I just picked a random lens from the list to see how much shipping would come out as.

Anyway, stoked on finding my dads old 50mm 1.8 lens from his film SLR days, I've been looking at buying one of those for a while. Coupled with some cheap macro rings it can take pretty close up shots.

I'll put in a vote for Photo & Video here, I bought a few things off them before I moved away and they were great to deal with, had good stock and their prices seem to be the best around. Definitely seemed to be the most knowledgeable staff I've dealt with too

I'm pretty gutted I didn't buy my pocketwizards from them and gave my money to the dipshits at photowarehouse

Yup, Dads reliving his childhood. Started out looking for a project car + spare, but the guy he ended up purchasing those two from had a collection of 13 that he needed to get rid of. Long story short he took the lot

Tried a panorama photomerge from a friends balcony in Taupo. The original is 5 RAW files merged and comes out to a whopping 220mb

Not a big fan of the Canon 50 1.4

Try the Sigma instead.
Key benefits:
- More modern optics
- Nicer body material
- 77mm thread as per most other Canon L lenses (some people call this a disadvantage... but they are smoking crack! Who wants to buy a 77mm B+W Circ Polarizer AND a 58mm one!!!)
- Faster (at least I think) AF

Downsides
- Getting a good copy can be a bit hit and miss
- Heavy (I like heavy as it makes my muscles bigger )
- A bit spendy... thogh I got mine when they were only about $700 NZ!!!!

Yeah, the sigma does get the better review that's for sure.
I'm not sure I can stretch to the sigma, though I could wait a lil while I guess.

Unfortunately i had this problem so much with sigma that i gave up. Canon pretty much all the way for me now, apart from my 14mm fisheye

Yeah, my 10-20 is ace but my sigma 70-200 is so off its going to get looked at.

Would have a go with the sigma 50/1.4 if I was after one tho, both canons faster 50's have issues.

Wish canon had a cheap 30-35 EF-S
