I was also hoping to use it as a video camera as well, just for small stuff.

7D is $2700, 5D is $1200, $1500 gets you a 17-55f2.8 IS or 70-200f4IS L or something.

7D has whizzy 19 point AF and 8fps , better build, better viewfinder, IMO better ergonomics.

The resultant image wont be massivly different (ignroing focus/exposure etc).

IMO a 500D, 18-55IS and 55-250IS would be a great starter kit and give you plenty of options and some idea of where to go next. Both those lenses are pretty decent opticaly, if slow (Af and fstop).

the reason i bought a 7d was the fact its 100% view not 95% and the film rates video and photo. 19 point focus wasnt a factor im used to 45 points

and if you want cheeper gear hav a look at http://www.d-d-electronics.com.sg/categ ... &view=list

and heres a couple of shots from bnt v8s

We have had a cold snap -20 deg C here in Helsinki before Christmas, it shouldn't get above -5 deg C before the 28th :)
When it is this cold it is really dry. The needs to be wet snow to make snowballs unless it is +1 to -5 deg C it is just like powder and squeaky when you walk on it.
I changed the Throttle body and fuel pump on my car yesterday, the bit that I will try and get a photo of was the bolts and tools froze to my swani when I lent over the bonnet. I am still riding my bike as I have studded tyres. The noticeable things are the tyres feel like solid rubber and the oil has waxed up and fallen off. I leave it outside as anything mechanical like a gun or bike tends to crack or get moisture in odd places if you bring it in and out at this temperature.

5ltr of water in a bucket and cake tin for 2 hours @ -21 deg C = knob end shaped candle stand

Ahh warming up for midday a balmy -16 deg C

My new camera :)

Went with the 15-85 lens as it seems pretty good.
The things like a machine gun at 8fps, sounds awesome.
