Home from a long weekend of various riding

Friday up to Hanmer by motorbike in perfect weather, a quick stop to pick up a trail map and then swapped to the mtb. Nice warmup through dog stream reserve and then across for a ride up mack 1, carried on up the road and waded through the clay for a run down detox which is just as slippy slidy and fun as ever. Back up the road and down dog stream then up the road and over red rocks, nice, across a very cool little link track through the pine forest and up timberland for a run down the rest of dog stream and home as the sun went down.

Saturday a quiet pootle around the forest then up the hill to grind my way to the top of threashold, and a reminder of how crap I am at riding switchback corners on the way back down, and another quick blat through mack 1 to kill a few minutes before I was due at the hot pools.

Today up to Mt Lyford to ride my planks for the morning on a great day and bugger all people on the field. Back home to pack up and onto the motorbike for a ride home to CH in the rain, always a bit of fun.

I need more weekends like this. :) Big thanks to the peoples of the Hanmer bike club, keep up the excellent work.

pads were brand new :(

metal sintered for the rainy days?

yes I was riding organic pads in Vegas winter

I'm changing brakes, as I can't get a sintered pad for my current set of brakes (going back to Shimano)

YD's, the stock pads are great for 99% of people, its just that I love riding in the depths of winter in shitty weather

Epic near four hour ride around the Welli hills today, including riding Skyline in a wind so strong riding was impossible in places, and even standing was damn difficult. Awesome ride, and I'm in that broken but happy place. Felt grouse all ride though, and did LOTS of climbing!

chur, took the spawn out to the sandpit today and did a quick little spin. she did well considering she's been off the bike for a couple of months.

Too much shit to do around the house plus still recovering from night means I didn't get out much this weekend.

Rode wrights hill, carparts ext, carparts, rollercoaster and denton park then through town, up Ngaio/Broadmeadows to Mt Kaukau. Got to the summit just as the southerly rolled through. Combination of wind and fog meaning I had to ride sans glasses making it a little sketchy at times.

Luckily despite popular rumours cows have not learnt to ride bikes yet (probably as they have no hands)

I dug with a hardy bunch of souls on the Jailbrake track in Mirmar, creating nice berms and mounds and stuff. Big ups to Ben and his merry bunch of rock finders, Sarah and dad, Mike the Hippy and myself. We then shuttled a few runs. New bits at the bottom of the track ride awesome. Will be a super fun track when it's finished.

Nice work Slackshanks. I love your trail building. In fact I might tell Nicko to sort you out with a Dutch Ruder or something for your efforts.
