I'm quite happy with the result of this snapshot of the Petronas Towers in KL taken on Monday night. Handheld at 1/80, F4.5 and the ISO cranked up (no post processing). Might make it my new desktop pic at work.

Cheers. Here's a couple more from the same walk around. The towers are a stunning piece of architecture... much more so than I was expecting. We were only in KL for one night and I wish I hadn't left my gorillapod in Penang.

I know this is a really stupid question coming from the creator of this thread, but how does the whole 'lens system' work? EG, what does 75-200mm mean? I do know that the higher the number the higher the zoom, and I understand the f-stop side of things, but there's gotta be a more proper way of looking at it?

Yes the higher the number the greater the zoom. Its the distance between the objective lens and lens you look through (don't remember the name). The more zoom you have the greater the need for a larger objective to gather more light, why telephotos get wider and wider as they get bigger and bigger. There is more to it but thats a basic explanation.

Same thing happens with high magnification rifle scopes and binoculars.

Got me a new canon powershot d10 - so far I am happy with the results, since my last point and shoot came to NZ with me nearly 5 years ago it was getting a bit crap, and as I don't much fancy taking the 40d on the boat too too much... waterproof and shock proof = win

Just been on a work trip near Fairlie, working in a Kale crop. It was pretty cold (frosty) to start with but once the sun had thawed the ice it was really glittery.
