Getting Back From Algonquin Early On In Gta4

Postby Tama on Wed 22/Apr/09 9:39am

After an awesome multi player session on GTA4 with E Dogg and Rik on Sunday night I decided to bust out GTA4 and reacquaint myself with my old friend.

I've started from the beginning and am up to my old tricks of trying to get across to Algonquin and see how long I can last with 6 stars. The main way I get across is by driving onto the e-train at Hove Beach and then driving through the subways and launching off the e-train south of Frankfort High.

I had a really good run last night and decided I should try and get back to Broker. At which point I ran into a wee bit of a problem...

For one my health was getting gradually eroded by gun fire from the cops and I had to put a lot of effort into each vehicle swap - outrun the police, find vehicle, jack it very quickly, flee again.

For two I couldn't work out which subway stations in Algonquin were accessible by car - I tried to fit down the entrance to Suffolk and that was the beginning of the end.

So... any ideas on how I can get back? I'm guessing some of the Algonquin stations must be car accessible (motorbikes are way to dangerous/ exposed to gunfire) - or is there a "better" way?

Jack a helicopter! Well at least that's what I would try.

No helicopters spawn at that point in the game :(

I finally achieved my goal yesterday - I got over to Algonquin in a Huntley by driving directly onto the track tracks in Bohan and coming out in Frankfort High. I then drove all the way to the southern tip of Algonquin with 6 wanted stars (which means you go through many many vehicles as they are riddled with gunfire.) To get back I drove back onto the tracks at Frankfort High (there is a broken bit of wall with a orange safety barrier you can smash through) and drove over the bridge to Bohan - where getting rid of 6 stars was quite a challenge (driving around Broker really fast) but quite fun.

There must be more cunning ways to get back onto the train tracks but it's hard finding them when everyone's trying to shoot you.

Nice work Tama, when playing San Andreas i used to do similar things - leave the first island and try and make the return trip to a distant landmark such as the summit of Mount Chiliad, or the Naval base, or desert airfield. Then mix it up by sticking only to aircraft (the easiest), or just motorbikes,or cars etc. great fun
