yep i'm with datto on that one start wiv a 2:1 ratio, dj, street and park it may feel a little short but it won't kill you on the trails, used to run 2.25:1 for my street/park bike but have bought a new one thats got 2.15:1 and thats pretty sweet allround, start short and work up to a bigger gear.

Picked this beast up this morning, didn't want to wait till my conversion parts turned up (bought a dmr sts kit online) ... so 20 minutes after getting it home here is the end result.

Only change so far from the original 98 marin palisades is disconnecting the derailers (running 34-18) and replacing the seat with one off a pinarello road bike I had sitting in the garage parts bin.
Will be built properly in time for the single speed nationals. Until then its 100% ghetto speed.

Marzocchi DJ 1's and 2's seem to be good
But a better idea would be to get either Rock Shox Pikes Or some Fox Talas
Then you could run it with a super slack front like now and then drop it for DJ/Urban

Yeah I was looking at the DJ's but they're specific for that. I like trail riding, so yeah Pikes would be nice.. :) The fox 36's or 32's?

Depends how rough you get
If you do a bit of hardtail dh i'd go 36
If your just general trail i'd say 32
What size are those that are on there now?

I personally would prefer 36's because they are stronger and more freeride friendly
And yeah 20mm axle
Nice and tough

I think I'll settle on the pikes... 32's aren't strong enough for the type of riding I like to do... I definitely need u-turn to adjust the height. I'm going for flat bars to reduce the hight a little bit at the front also.

Cheers - if only I had the legs to do it justice right now. Really looking forward to winter on it.
