Nah not me. No time to stop!! Got home at 4:20pm. Had stuff thrown at me from boy racers down Dyers. Abused them at the bottom then they proceeded to chase and harass me in their car (5 inside). Got numberplate so will report them. Boy racers seem to have gone nuts lately!

Yeah thats the trouble. You never know if they will be wimps and cower at your angry presence, or run you off the road and all get out and smash you. Especially in isolated spots where theres no one around. Could get ugly

Just got back in the last hr from a nice 100k in the hills-up Bastard to SOK, Evans Gov nors SOK again- Evans Lyttelton and home.
Left just after 10 so was riding around in the hottest part of the day (31.6deg at 11:30 :0 ) Re filled the old bottle up at the SOK a couple of times so all good. Started struggling a bit at Lytt for the 2nd time, and it turned Southerly at Gov nors which although was nice and cool, meant I was down to 33kph down that hill onto the Teddington st and about 22 on it  Got home at 96k's so had to toodle around on the flat to get to the magic 100. Legs pretty much had given out at that stage so that last 4k's really hurt :D

went up to Te Horo to watch the start of the inter club race, then headed up in the drizzle past Levin till I got sick of the northerly and cruised back with a tail wind. Overall, 100km. Then I fell off on a manhole cover.

For the first time in about 20 years I can legitimately post in here. Took my inaugural ride on my "new" road bike. Did a 80km ride from the Hutt, round the bays and then up the Hutt river a wee bit. It rode nicely despite not being totally dialled in. It needs a few small adjustments to make it fit me properly.

Still lots of work to do, like getting all the black paint off the parts from the $25 donor bike from Trademe. The person had painted everything...

Then will start the process of finding the right parts to upgrade it :0 If things work out well I may even look at giving it a paint job to deal with the small bit of spot rust showing through.

Also Thanks to CAM from Bicycle for the advice and quick workshop job. To think, all he got out of it was a small sale of cheap components to a right royal pain in the arse :D :D

Oh and it felt good chasing down those dirty MTB'er with such ease... ;)

Went for the cheap stuff, because I've never put tape on bars before....

Looking at the picture the bars look like they're point up a bit much

I've been reading a new book by Amy Taylor about the Lake Taupo challenge and one of the tips in there was that it is better to spin at a higher cadence, so tonight I thought i would try it. Apparently it is something I need to learn to improve the overall speed. So I set out to try to keep up at 90rpm for as long as I could. It seemed hard but I stayed focussed on it for the first 30km, prior to my hill climb home.
So what was the result? Well, normally I would expect to do 30km on the flat at an average of 30kph, and even that is only because it is my new target, up from 25. Tonight, when I finally flicked the computer over to see my average.....32.9kph. Now a little of that will have come from going down the hill from home, but not that much.

Oh, oh oh, I remember something else tonight, and this is another first for me. I was heading north on SH2, towards Kelson and someone started tooting at me. and now for the long version of the following 5 seconds, ...."shit, why would someone be tooting at me, I am well on the edge within the breakdown lane, I cant possibly be holding them up......hmmmm....it is a beep beep beep rather than a long blast, should I give then the finger.....hang on, no I decided that was bad last time, and I dont want to offend anyone...I'll just wave to them. And so wave I did, the car duly caught up and went past, hang on what the F*** shake my eyes, surely not,,,,,yup,,,,,no.,,,,oh yes two, that's right two sets of boobies being flashed out the windows (front and rear passengers) at me. Wahoo......that's a first! :0 :0 :0 :0 :0 :0 :0 :0 but not
Couldn't catch them at the next lights though :-(
Although I did see a keen cyclist who I know I've met before turning up Kelson on a blue tandem with his son on the back, followed by his daughter too! 3 on a bike, and you know who's going to do the work going up the hill, but then who would live on a hill.....ummmm....me....

Oh, so the ride, was just down my hill (yup I own it now), up SH2 to the Silverstream turn off, across the river and back down harcourt werry by the river, crossing at Melling, and back up the hill to home. 31.94km 70minutes at an avg of 27.2 (the avg dropped because of the hill climb after the 30km mentioned earlier).

finally, who the heck would want to live on a hill....... =} =} =} :satan:

How's that for a weird ride profile.
