I went out tonight from the bottom of Maungaraki, through Petone, and out to the end of Eastborne and back. It was my first ride back from Taranaki, and it felt good. It was the first time that I have been out that way and actually not had a head wind on the way back.
It was only a 30km ride and a 30kph average. I am happy with it.

From the suburban wonderland of Churton Park out to the top of Paekak hill and back. 65ish kms, 2hrs 10 mins. Not so fussed on that ride to be honest - nice scenery at some points (esp the turnaround point at the top), but the climb up is a little easy to be much fun, and the ride back down isn't steep enough to be any fun at all.

Did my strength endurance on Tamaki Dr tonight, so had one of those amusing situations where I'd be rolling along doing about 28k while recovering and have someone go past doing about 34k. 2mins later when back in strength endurance mode I'd fly past doing about 44k.

Always amusing those antics.

Beautiful day today on the other side of the world. Days are getting a bit longer, 5.15 sunset at the moment, ayups are mounted on the roadie for late finishes like tonight. 1400m, 64k, 23kph ave.

A couple of days ago however wasn't quite so nice, :0 up a hill somewhere, came across this. Took to it with the wheels for bits and pieces where there was slush, but in the long run it was just stupid. So about a km of walking, following by riding on the wrong side of the road (well actually the correct side for you) dodging the cars flying along out of control the ride continued a bit later.

then back thru te puke, back thru Maungatapu, and back home to fraser cove, including the hour and a half stopping for a swim and swapping a tubem, I was out for 7 & a 1/2 hours.
I'm feeling the burn in my legs!

Yesterday my mate came over in the morning and asked to go for a ride and we just spurr-of-the-moment decided to go to waikane! Road from the hutt up the motorway, thru the akatarawas to waikane, down SH1 and up and over the pie-cock hill to pahatahanui, through moonshine road instead of over the haywards, down the motorway and home again! 130km all up, took four hours thirty and averaged 28.5 which isn't too bad considering it was my first road ride since March.

Today was the first ride with the cycling shoes which arrived last night. Were uber easy to set up. Headed out on the old tried and true Highcliff to Portobello route then back along the Peninsula Rd then out to Nth East Valley. From there headed out halfwayish to Prt Chalmers then back past the uni and home for about 74kms in a little under 3 hours. I found I had to stop a couple of times as the big toe in my right foot was like completely numb so had to get off and wriggle it around a bit. Foolishly i stopped on a hill after blasting past a whole bunch of walkers/cyclers etc. Then they passed me while I was trying to get my damned shoe in the clip again! Slightly embarrasing that was :(* Specially when I lost my balance and had to kinda leap off the bike to avoid landing on my face and I am sure this lady with a dog (who also passed me) thought I was drunk or something :/. But with that being said hills were much faster rythm wise/pace wise and so was the flat with no annoying shoes rubbing on the pedal crank. Such a huge difference. Already looking forward to tomorrow as I am sure more improvements in my form are in store! Lots of other friendly bikers were out also over Highcliff which was good to see.

Up Dyers for the first time. 19m53s, about the same as my best up Hackthorne. Along the Summit Rd, very windy to Evans, then back up to Broadleaf for another PB for the PHLB. Strong wind up there, but a nice bit of assistance home through town. Didn't see many out and about. Where were you all?

I was suffering in the heat mid afternoon out the back of Motukarara, then up Gebbies, up bastard (with sticky road and insane heat, and back to SOK then home. Hot out there!

Did I see you disappearing up the driveway at the Sok (~5:15)? Was someone in a bright green top. I'd just been up that way a little bit finding a spot for a comfort break

That's a good loop - I've driven most of it following the Fielding Junior Tour, and I'm pretty sure we raced on it when I was a kid. Good stuff.

I rode around the Bays in the hot, hot sun with the beaches on my left the whole way. :satan:

Nah not me. No time to stop!! Got home at 4:20pm. Had stuff thrown at me from boy racers down Dyers. Abused them at the bottom then they proceeded to chase and harass me in their car (5 inside). Got numberplate so will report them. Boy racers seem to have gone nuts lately!

There was a massive field in the Benchmark race today.
